Well the PT/CT scans results came back.

And they suck. What I thought may have been cancer,(F.A.P.), well turns out it is Desmoids. Anyone have a dealing with Desmoids? It is bascily scar tissue from having colon removed, growing and taking on a life of its own. Little none cancerous tumors that send out little feelers and latch hold of things. DR said one lady had one the size of a bowling ball in her. Have to take Fareston, anyone take that? It is an antiestrogen , seems Desmoid tumors do not thrive without estrogen. But the meds could do one of 3 things, shrink them, inlarge them, or do nothing at all. The sugery to remove them is way to risky and messy to just do it. So after 3 months of taking meds it is back for another scan to see what my mini mes are doing, or maybe it is my spicy side x2. Chemo is an option, with a slightly higher effectivness than the pills. So if you think about it and you are not busy, can I get a little prayer. If it ain't one thing it is another. Thanks for leting me vent.

RE: hey im new here!

Welcome. I (we) loved tent camping, until old age greeped up on us,well I am 45. I always say(now days) that if I was young and single again, I would have me a small RV, maybe a 16 o 18 ft TT. And just learn to do odd jobs and move around. But we all know that would never happen. Good luck and ask questions. Rent a few before buying.

RE: 8000 Watt Generator

You may have a 4 prong twist and lock 30 amp outlet on the gen. But I am not too sure I would want to use an industrial gen set. They are not as well equiped for spikes and such. Figure that is why gen sets for RVs run a few bucks more, they have more protection built in.And the noise level also is a reason they cost more.

RE: Newbie w/alot of Questions

TT all the way. You can get bunks in a TT. Most Hybrids I have seen have queen beds at each end. And that is the other thing, crawling over each other to get in and out of bed, while it sounds fun, but in the middle of the night who knows where a misplaced knee will land. And the hybrids with the solid slides well they have tracks inside that have to be matched up. And the cloth ones, well who needs more cloth to maintain. We use a 33ft Pilgram with a quad bunk layout, with the 4 of usit works great, each kid has one side of the rear room, and halk of the drawers and hanger. We pull the curtain to so the DW does not have to see the mess.

RE: Driving pet peeves.

The speed limit as posted is the speed limit for all lanes of that stretch of freeway. Most laws allow you to go slower, which in other than normal conditions you should, such as rain and snow. And I know for a fact that in Indiana you can get a ticket for driving slower, no I did not get one for slow driving, somehow i got a ticket for speeding while there was 2 cars in front of me, and 3 or so behind me, but yet I was targeted. Anyway I was messing with this ding a ling Indiana trooper. As he got to the back of my truck I would holler,"excuse me officer." He would walk to my door again, where I proceded to ask him questions, after all it is part of his job. Anyway I think it was the 3rd time he got to the rear of my truck, and I stopped him again, this time I asked him why they never give tickets for slow drivers. He claims he has. So I asked him what was the law on slow drivers, he could not answer. But in Indiana if you are going 15 mph less than the posted speed limit, and are holding up more than 3 vehicles, you can get a ticket. Under normal driving conditions. But I will be willing to bet the posted speed limit in all states is exactly that. The left lane is not a fast lane. The other lanes are for slower vehicles doing less than the posted speed limit. I bet no where in any state will any books or officers say that the left lane is a fast lane meant for those doing over the speed limit. As far as the keep right except to pass. I bet a lot of that has to do with emergency vehicles more than anything else. Because for some reason some people have a hard time getting out of the way of an emergency vehicle. If the lane is made to stay open, then they can run as fast as they think they can, and not worry about switching lanes.

Driving pet peeves.

What are some of the things other drivers do that gets under your skin? Well I am not the best driver in the world, but man I am far from the worst. Things that irk me: Not using a turn signal. This bothers me, but not as bad as it used to. Changing lanes while turning. Now this burns me. When turning you should stay in the lane you turning from. Meaning if you are turning left, you should be in the left lane after turning, not the right lane, which belongs to the folks turning from the other side. Now with big rigs and such yeah you need to take a few lanes. This next one really burns me. For example in the morn I have to merge onto a bridge to cross into to KY, well if I am the last vehicle in a line of traffic, why does someone feel the need to race out from behind me( any lane ) and then cut me off. Just to get ahead of me, one vehicle. Stupid folks. I am already running 60 or so across the bridge, so it can not be because I am slow.

RE: Tipping When Getting Propane at CG?

Hi, I have been tipped a couple of times, and I feel a little un-easy about it. I repair air conditioners and get paid well by my employer. I did not feel a tip was nesasary when adjusting the air vents at a studio in Beverly Hills, but I figured if he felt I was worth an extra $20, I would have a nice lunch today! I know that I did not have to get out my ladder and make the air duct changes, so I did not feel that bad. But would you tip a guy in Oregon who just filled your car with $4 gas? And tell them thanks? Same thing with the propane, I don't think I would tip them unless it was something out of the ordinary. Such as arriving at a campground around 7 or 8PM without propane and getting someone to fill you up after hours - I might offer them a soda or small bag of chips? But not really a cash reward. They do say that waitresses are the best tippers! One thing that bothers me is the "Free" buffets at a casino. Many do not leave a tip, but I always leave a couple of dollars. It is how they make a living - cleaning tables for $3 an hour. I would think that the hired hand who delivers propane is either making a decent living or being compensated by given free place to stay, or some other means. Fred. Every now and then I get tips, I am a Plumber, I make good money,(well it used to be good, now I guess it is just decentmoney.) and usually I try to give the money back. But if they insist then I will take it, heck I can always use and extra 5 to 40 bucks. ( the least and most I have ever got, well A few bottles of bourbon also.) I have never filled my propane tanks at a CG, but I do not even see the need to tip anyone in a CG, unless they are serving food to my door. And since the wife really lilkes most KOAs, I figure they get twice as much as any other CG, so they really do not need tips. My wife is a dealer at a local Casino, and not only do the food serive folks work for tips, but so do the dealers. The Slot folks make a little more on the hour in base pay, becuase they get a little less in tips. But the craps and black jack dealers and the other games, well they work for tips. So if you go to a Casino in southern IN please tip the dealers, I need gas to go camping. OH yeah at this Casino all tips go in a pool, well the servers have a pool, the dealers have a pool, even the poker dealers have their own pool, and the slots have a pool. Then every 2 weeks it is all divivded by the number of hours that where worked. So tip them dealers so I can go camping.

RE: Beech Bend/Labor Day

The cg at BB is OK. It has medium sized mostly pull-thru level sites, not much by way of shade. Fri nits has drag races until 10 PM - you can hear them quite clearly but it may not bother you. There are a lot of activities at the park for kids, - water park, etc. Temps should be mid 80s so nice weather. Thanks for the info. It has been years since I have been there. I think the place actually closed when I was younger, then re opened a few years later. (I think) I know they have the Harley drags there now too. But the wife won't let me go, well she would let me, but her mood would not be the greatest when I returned. (Too many bare boobs.) Thanks for the info.

Beech Bend/Labor Day

Anyone going to Beech Bend in Bowling Green Ky for Labor Day weekend? We are planning on it. They take no reservations, and the pics look good, but these days it is easy to make a pile of poo look like a B Day cake. I hope to get off of work early on Fri and head out, it should be a 3 to 4 or drive. Anyone have experiences good or bad let us know. Thanks.

RE: Woodworkers, I'm looking for plans

Looks like something you may find in Popular Mechanics. That is cool. But I would think you could build a basic night stand and add the top to fit your needs. You could also hinge it to the back.

RE: wart, freezezone????

It never worked on my sons warts. And the DR would not even use the freeze stuff he has, so maybe it only works on certain warts. I know it cost us about 700 bucks or so to get rid of them. Some kind of urine cream that was expensive. Plus some other drugs. BUt it may work for smaller ones, and with continious use. Keep you warts away from your mouth also. DR said one kid kept chewing on his and spread on his lips and cheeks.

RE: Anyone have an audio of a fisher?

CROWE.... is this what you are talking about... a member of the weasel family ?? I had never heard of a Martin called a Fisher Cat.. By golly, I learned something new today.. :) Thanks, John The fisher is a North American marten, a medium-sized mustelid. The fisher is agile in trees and has a slender body that allows it to pursue prey into hollow trees or burrows in the ground. Despite its name, this animal seldom eats fish; the name may originate from the French word fichet, which referred to the pelt of a European polecat. In some regions the fisher is known as a pekan, derived from its name in the Abenaki language. note: a polecat is a member of the weasel family and is not a skunk as many Americans believe. Never heard ofa fisher cat , but have heard of a king fisher. (insert pun here.)

RE: Anyone have an audio of a fisher?

Maybe a screech owl. Or maybe a night jar. Forget which it is. But everynow and then I get one flying by the house, or out back in the woods. What it sounds like, if it is the same thing, is an old Schwin rear slick on fresh blacktop when you slam on the brakes and do a sweeping skid. Next to the coyotes, one of the amazing sounds of night. Oh yeah I forgot, maybe try one of the tv network sites, like nat geo. I know when my kids where younger we had a site that had some bird sounds on it. Maybe it was the encyclopedia cd also. But we found some sounds.

RE: battery back up sump pump???

Well, I have put in about as many as I have taken out. I think they are a joke. The need to be maintained, most folks forget about them. Some will not fit right in the sump crock, and therefore are a real pain to get set right. They usually do not pump much water. For the price of most, close to 200 bucks, some are less, some are more, I would opt for a small gas gen set. I have seen 2 lately that hook up to city water, well in KY they are actually illeagal, unless you use and RPZ valve, and that in itself is to be tested yearly, or every other year. If they are connected to a water supply system they need a backwater check, well actually may need a air break, to keep dirty water out of the city water system, or you drinking supply. So I think they are a joke and a waste of time and money. Them and garbage dissposals they are a big rip off. But to each their own. And if you have some one else install one for you check their work, I have taken out a few that would not even work they way they should, due to improper instalation.

RE: Lonely and down

I am truly sorry for your situation. I have medical issues myself. And have a wife 16 yrs, which we dated 6 before we where married, a total of 22 yrs.( How did I ever make it.) But we will stick by each other to the end. Well I guess I will, and she says she will. But I would take a short jaunt, and snap a few photos, and bring them back and share them. After she sees the pics, maybe she will want to go with you. And as you know, sometimes we can all have too much company, or maybe too long of a visit. Maybe you both could use a little alone time. And we will send prayers for the surgery and the whole situation.

RE: AIR CONDITION PROBLEM

I hate it when that happens. We have an 08 pilgram, was out in the Grand Canyon, came in one day and it was just awfully hot in the TT. I know to keep filters clean, not the issue. So I started poking and proding, found this yellow tag tucked up inside the unot, talked about the thing that kept it from freeezing. Darn forgot what it is called. Anyway this little sensor was not where it should have been. Re installed it and all is well. But if yours is older and it has worked, well your coils may be dirty, filter may be dirty, or it may be under rated for the TT, in extremely hot weather. Or low cooling fluid. Maybe , and very doubtful, but maybe a half tripped breaker.

RE: financing in a business name

I know if you try to avoid the tax issue, you can get a company in Montana(I think.) anyway, you pay a law firm so much and they will create a LLC, and get you a PO box# for your made up company, and you can skip most taxes. So I hear.
